Working within the belief that ideas are alive and want to evolve, this series involves disassembling the past to reassemble and reimagine them for the present. Re-imagining art and thinking about when and why they were made, reflections of technique, history, and the evolution of how I am presented material are all ideas I work through while collaborating with age-old questions and evolutions of people.
The Golden Years
Combing Mass media and Golden Year Books imagery to create digital and analog collages that question the ideas we are taught as children and how those change as we age.
Finding Joy
What began in late 2019 as a search for Joy has evolved into a daily friendship with Serendipity and the words of an inherited book of non fiction. This project uses erasure/found poetry, redacted and altered text, and a variety of mediums including collage, photography, paint, and stitching to play with the idea of narrative. Each piece is made with the intention that something in each page wants to communicate a new idea, joke, story, observation, or thought. I also hope for the viewer to question which came first, the words or the accompanying imagery. This project is about sharing joy, and making the act of creation fun!
